Spectrum Chart - 207 : Road Transport

  1. Motorcycle - A motorcycle is a two or three-wheeled motor vehicle. Motorcycle is normally driven by one person. A passenger can also ride on the back of the motorcycle. Some motorcycles have a sidecar that can carry another passenger.
  2. Motor Scooter -A motor scooter is a style of two-wheeled motor vehicle with step-through frame. Scooters are popular for personal transport, partly due to being cheap to buy, easy to operate and convenient to park and store.
  3. Auto Rickshaw - An auto rickshaw is a three-wheeler vehicle, it is a motorised development of the traditional pulled rickshaw or cycle rickshaw. Auto rickshaws are used in cities and towns for short distances.
  4. Motor Car : Coupe – A Motor car coupe is a closed two-doorcar body style with a permanently attached fixed roof, that is shorter than a sedan. It is a small compact car, mainly for city travel.
  5. Motor Car : Sedan – A Motor car sedan is a passenger car with separate compartments for engine, passenger and cargo. Sedans are cars with extended boot. These are longer than hatchbacks. These would accommodate not more than 5 people.
  6. Jeep - Jeep is a Sports Utility Vehicle. It is built to be a rugged vehicle that combines cargo and passenger carrying capacity. They are bigger than motor car.
  7. Sports Car – A sports car is a small, fast, quick-turning car. Most of them only have two seats or very small seats in the back. Sports cars may be spartan or luxurious, but high manoeuvrability and minimum weight are requisite.
  8. Delivery Van – A delivery van is a kind of vehicle used for transporting goods. Delivery vans have only front seats and are used to carry goods and equipment. Postal services and courier companies use large step vans to deliver packages.
  9. Sports Utility Vehicle - Sports Utility Vehicles are big cars, which were designed to go over rough surfaces or off road. These can accommodate about 5-7 people.
  10. Luxury Bus – A luxury bus that is used for driving long distances with as much comfort as possible and more room. It has comfortable seats that may include an armrests and recliner.
  11. Double Decker Bus – A double-decker bus is a bus that has two storeys or decks. Double-deckers are primarily used for commuter transport but open-top models are also used as sight-seeing bus's for tourists.
  12. Limousine – Limousines are luxury vehicles with lengthened wheelbases, driven by a chauffeur. Limousines are an expensive form of auto transport and are usually offered for rich citizens.
  13. Truck - A truck is a vehicle used to transport goods. They can carry tonnes of load. Heavy trucks have three axles, one at front and two at rear, and the rear axles have coupled wheels to enable heavy loads.
  14. Mini Bus – A minibus is a passenger carrying motor vehicle that is designed to carry more people than a minivan, but fewer people than a full-size bus. Minibuses have a seating capacity of between 8 and 30 seats.
  15. Trailer Truck - Trailer trucks are the largest on-road trucks. Road damage and wear increase very rapidly with the axle weight. Trailer trucks are largely powered by diesel engines.
  16. Flyover (Bridge) – A flyover is a bridge over a road, railway or similar pathway. It allows people or vehicles cross pathways without coming into contact with the traffic on the other pathway.
  17. Tram - A tram is a passenger vehicle that is like a train which run on dedicated tracks on the road within cities. Trams first came into use in the 1890's.
  18. Busy Highway – Busy Highway is a condition on transport networks that occurs as use increases and is characterised by slower speeds, longer trip times and increased vehicular queueing. When vehicles are fully stopped for periods of time, this is known as a traffic jam.
