Spectrum Chart - 179 : Means Of Communications

  1. Newspaper – Newspaper is a publication printed on paper and issued regularly, usually once a day. It gives information and opinions about current events and news. Newspapers usually have a lot of topics in them. They usually include political events, crime, business, sports and opinions. People like to read them to stay informed about their local city or state.
  2. Magazine – Magazines are publications, usually periodical publications, that are printed or electronically published. They are generally published on a regular schedule and contain a variety of content. Magazine are mostly genre specific, they provide information of that particular genre only like sports magazine, health magazine, fashion magazine etc.
  3. Microphone – A microphone, sometimes referred to as a mike or mic, converts sound into an electrical signal. Electromagnetic transducers facilitate the conversion of acoustic signals into electrical signals. Microphones are used in many applications such as telephones, hearing aids, public address systems, radio, television broadcasting etc.
  4. Post – Post or mail is a part of the postal system. The postal system is a system where written documents and small to medium packages are sent to places around the world. Anything sent through the postal system is called mail or post.
  5. Telephone – A telephone is a communication tool. It is an electronic tool sending digital signals on wires or radio transmission. Using a telephone, two people who are in different places can talk to each other. Early telephones needed to be connected with wires which are called landline telephones. Now telephone calls can be sent with radio. This is called wireless or cordless.
  6. CD Player – A CD player is an electronic device that plays audio compact discs, which are a digital optical disc data storage format. CD players are often a part of home stereo systems, car audio systems and personal computers.
  7. DVD Player – A DVD player is a device that plays discs produced under both the DVD-Video and DVD-Audio technical standards. Some DVD players will also play audio CDs. DVD players are connected to a television to watch the DVD content, which could be a movie, a recorded TV show or other content.
  8. CD & DVD – A DVD is an optical disc capable of storing up to 4.7 GB of data. A Compact Disc (CD) is a type of optical disc. It is flat and round and is used to store digital data. It can store data up to 700 MB. CDs and DVDs use the same way of keeping information. Both CDs and DVDs have pits and bumps on the data track. The information is read by a laser.
  9. Camera – A camera is an optical instrument for recording or capturing images. The images may be individual still photographs or sequences of images constituting videos or movies. The camera is a remote sensing device as it senses subjects without physical contact. The functioning of the camera is very similar to the functioning of the human eye.
  10. Computer - A computer is a general purpose device that can be programmed to carry out a set of arithmetic or logical operations automatically. There are four main processing steps in a computer and they are: inputting, outputting, storage and processing. These four steps help the computer to work.
  11. Television – Television or TV is a telecommunication medium used for transmitting sound with moving images in monochrome or in colour and in two or three dimensions. Television is a mass medium, for entertainment, education, news and advertising.
  12. Tablet - Tablet, is a mobile computer with a touchscreen display, circuitry and battery in a single device. Tablets come equipped with sensors, including cameras, a microphone and an accelerometer. Tablets are typically larger than smartphones or personal digital assistants with screens 7 inches (18 cm) or larger.
  13. Mobile Phone – A mobile phone is a portable telephone that can make and receive calls over a radio frequency carrier while the user is moving within a telephone service area. Mobile phones which offer these and more general computing capabilities are referred to as smartphones.
  14. Ipad - iPad is a small tablet computer made by Apple Inc. It is larger than a smartphone and smaller than a laptop computer. It is different than a laptop in that it doesn't have a keyboard. Instead, it has a "virtual keyboards" using the touch screen and a physical keyboard can be added.
  15. Internet – Internet is the global system of inter connected computer networks that use the Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) to link billions of devices worldwide. It is a network of networks that consists of millions of private, public, academic, business, and government networks, linked by a broad array of electronic, wireless and optical networking technology.
  16. Satellite – A satellite is an artificial object which has been intentionally placed into orbit. Satellites are used for a large number of purposes. Common types include military and civilian Earth observation satellites, communications satellites, navigation satellites, weather satellites and research satellites. The world's first artificial satellite, the Sputnik 1, was launched by the Soviet Union in 1957.
  17. Fax – Fax is the telephonic transmission of scanned printed material, normally to a telephone number connected to a printer or other output device. The original document is scanned with a fax machine, which turns the contents into a bitmap. Then the bitmap is sent through the telephone system. The receiving fax machine reconverts the coded image, printing a paper copy.
  18. Multimedia LCD Projector – A Multimedia LCD projector is a type of video projector for displaying video, images or computer data on a screen or other flat surface. It is a modern equivalent of the slide projector or overhead projector. To display images, LCD projectors typically send light from a metal-halide lamp through a prism or series of dichroic filters.
  19. Digital Camcorder – A camcorder is an electronic device combining a video camera and a video recorder. Camcorders are used by nearly all electronic media, from electronic-news organisations to current-affairs TV productions. Camcorders often cover weddings, birthdays, graduations, children's growth and other personal events.
  20. Social Media Network – A social media network service is a website or service where people talk to or network with other people. Social media network can connect people with same interests and friends. The most popular websites like Facebook and Twitter are helping to speed up process of communication. They are available on phones and smartphones.
  21. Pocket Radio – Pocket radio or portable radios include simple transistor radios that are typically monoaural and receive the AM, FM or short wave broadcast bands.
  22. Walkie Talkie – A walkie-talkie is a hand held device, two way radio receiver/transmitter. It was developed in the second world war. Typical walkie-talkies today are phone sized and have a push to talk button. Walkie-talkie are used for various reasons, in the police force, military and recreation.
  23. Radio – Radio is a way to send electromagnetic signals over a long distance, to deliver information from one place to another. A machine that sends radio signals is called a transmitter, while a machine that "picks up" the signals is called a receiver. Radio was first created as a way to send telegraph messages between two people without wires.
  24. Cinema Projector – A cinema projector is an opto-mechanical device for displaying motion picture film by projecting it onto a screen. Most of the optical and mechanical elements, except for the illumination and sound devices, are present in movie cameras.
  25. Dish Antenna – A satellite dish is a dish-shaped type of parabolic antenna designed to receive electromagnetic signals from satellites, which transmit data transmissions or broadcasts, such as satellite television.
