  1. Bakery Products – Bakery products are flour-based food baked in an oven such as bread, cookies, cakes, pastries and pies. Bread and Biscuits form the major baked foods accounting for over 80% of total bakery products.
  2. Dairy Products - Dairy product or milk product is food produced from the milk of mammals, primarily cows, water buffaloes, goats, sheep, yaks, camels, domestic buffaloes etc. A facility that processes milk is a dairy or a dairy factory. Dairy products include cheese, ice cream, milk, butter, ghee, yogurt, Indian sweets etc.
  3. Juices – Juice is a liquid drink that is naturally contained in fruit and vegetables. It can also refer to liquids that are flavoured with these or other biological food sources. Juice is prepared by mechanically squeezing or macerating fruit or vegetable flesh without the application of heat or solvents.
  4. Grains – Grains are small, hard, dry seeds, with or without attached hulls or fruit layers, harvested for human or animal consumption. The two main types of commercial grain crops are cereals such as wheat, rice etc and legumes such as beans, soybeans etc. Grains contain carbohydrates that people can eat. They are a large part of the food supply.
  5. Pulses - Pulses are a type of leguminous crop that are harvested solely for the dry seed. Pulses are packed with nutrients and have a high protein content, making them an ideal source of protein. Pulses are low in fat and rich in soluble fibre, which can lower cholesterol and help in the control of blood sugar.
  6. Sea-Food – Seafood is any form of sea life regarded as food by humans. Seafood prominently includes fish and shellfish. Seafood is rich in protein, and is usually thought as healthy food.
  7. Fruits - Fruits normally means the fleshy seed-associated structures of a plant that are sweet or sour and edible in the raw state, such as apples, bananas, grapes, mangoes, oranges, strawberries etc.
  8. Vegetables – Vegetable is any part of a plant that is consumed by humans as food as part of a savoury meal. Vegetables can be eaten either raw or cooked and play an important role in human nutrition, being mostly low in fat and carbohydrates, but high in vitamins, minerals and fibre. Potatoes, carrots, green peas, cauliflower brinjal, capsicum etc are vegetables.
  9. Junk Food - Junk food is a term for food containing high levels of calories from sugar and fat with less protein, vitamins or minerals. It is an unhealthy food. When junk food is consumed very often it increased risk of obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other chronic health conditions. Burger, pizza, french fries, chips etc are few junk foods
  10. Meat – Meat is animal flesh that is eaten as food. Types of meat include beef and veal from cattle, pork, ham and bacon from pigs, mutton from sheep. Meat is mainly composed of water, protein and fat. It is edible raw, but is normally eaten after it has been cooked and seasoned or processed in a variety of ways.
  11. Poultry – Poultry are domesticated birds kept by humans for the eggs they produce, their meat. Poultry meat and eggs provide nutritionally beneficial food containing protein of high quality. This is accompanied by low levels of fat which have a favourable mix of fatty acids.
  12. Food Pyramid – A food pyramid is a pyramid-shaped diagram representing the optimal number of servings to be eaten each day from each of the basic food groups.
  13. Bad Food – Bad food includes all the food or eating items which are injuries to the health of the individual. It is advisable to avoid all such food items they include cigarette, gutkas, pan masala, liquor etc.
  14. Drinks – A drink or beverage is a liquid intended for human consumption. Drinks include tea, coffee, milk, juice, soft drinks, carbonated drinks etc, they have some form of water in them which are consumed by humans.
  15. Miscellaneous – Food items included in the miscellaneous food products are additional flavours which complement the main food product. They include ketchup, pickles, jam, chutney, salt & pepper etc.
