  1. Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru - Jawaharlal Nehru was the first Prime Minister of India and a central figure in Indian politics before and after independence. He emerged as the paramount leader of the Indian independence movement under the tutelage of Mahatma Gandhi and ruled India from its establishment as an independent nation in 1947 until his death in 1964.
  2. Dr. Zakir Husain - He was the third President of independent India. Serving his term from May 13, 1967 to May 3, 1969. Dr Zakir Hussain was one of the biggest exponents of education in India and it was under his leadership that the National Muslim University was founded, today, the National Muslim University exists under the name of Jamia Milia Islamia.
  3. Indira Gandhi - Indira Gandhi was a key 20th century stateswoman, a central figure of the Indian National Congress party and to date the only female Prime Minister of India. She served as Prime Minister from 1966 to 1977 and then again from 1980 until her assassination in 1984.
  4. Rani Laxmibai - Laxmibai, the Rani of Jhansi, born as Manikarnika, was the queen & warrior of the Maratha-ruled Jhansi State, situated in the north-central part of India. She was one of the leading figures of the Indian Rebellion of 1857 and became for Indian nationalists a symbol of resistance to the British Raj.
  5. Lokmanya Tilak - Lokmanya Tilak born as Keshav Gangadhar Tilak, was an Indian nationalist, teacher, social reformer, lawyer and an independence activist. He was the first leader of the Indian Independence Movement. Tilak was one of the strongest advocates of "Swaraj" (self-rule).
  6. Kasturba Gandhi - Kasturba Mohandas Gandhi was the wife of Mahatma Gandhi. Working closely with her husband, Kasturba Gandhi became a political activist fighting for civil rights and Indian independence from the British.
  7. Rabindranath Tagore - He was also a philosopher and an artist. He wrote many stories, novels, poems and dramas, as well as composing music and many songs. In 1913, he won the Nobel Prize in Literature, the first Asian to win this prize. Jana Gana Mana, the national anthem of India, was written by Tagore.
  8. Dr. Rajendra Prasad - Dr. Rajendra Prasad was the first President of the Republic of India. An Indian political leader, lawyer by training, Prasad joined the Indian National Congress during the Indian independence movement.
  9. Swami Ramkrishna Paramhansa – Swami Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was an Indian mystic and yogi during the 19th-century. He provided spiritual enlightenment to the people of Bengal and played a key role in the social reform movement in Bengal in 19th century.
  10. Bhagat Singh - Bhagat Singh was an Indian socialist and a revolutionary. He is considered to be one of the most influential revolutionaries of the Indian Independence Movement. Bhagat Singh assassinated John Saunders, a British police officer seeking revenge for the death of Lala Lajpat Rai. He threw two bombs inside the Central Legislative Assembly. He was convicted and hanged for his participation in the assassination, at the age of 23 in 1931.
  11. Chandrashekhar Azad - Chandrasekhar Azad was an Indian revolutionary. He was involved in the Kakori Train Robbery of 1925, in the attempt to blow up the Viceroy's train in 1926, and at last the shooting of J.P. Saunders at Lahore in 1928 to avenge the killing of Lala Lajpat Rai.
  12. Netaji Subhashchandra Bose - Subhash Chandra Bose, affectionately called as Netaji, was one of the most prominent leaders of Indian freedom struggle. He founded Indian National Army (Azad Hind Fauj) to overthrow British Empire from India.
  13. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar - Babasaheb Ambedkar was an Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer who inspired the campaigned against social discrimination against Untouchables (Dalits). He was Independent India's first law minister and the principal architect of the Constitution of India.
  14. V. V. Giri - Varahagiri Venkata Giri commonly known as V. V. Giri, was the fourth President of the Republic of India from 24 August 1969 to 24 August 1974. Indian Government had honoured him with Bharat Ratna.
  15. Mahadev G. Ranade - Mahadev Govind Ranade was a distinguished Indian scholar, social reformer and author. He was a founding member of the Indian National Congress &owned several designations as member of the Bombay legislative council, member of the finance committee at the centre and the judge of Bombay High Court.
  16. Madan Mohan Malaviya - Madan Mohan Malaviya was an Indian educationist and politician notable for his role in the Indian independence movement and as the four time president of Indian National Congress. The slogan "Satyameva Jayate" (Truth alone will triumph) is also a legacy given to the nation by Pandit Malaviya.
