1. Panchgani (Maharashtra) – Panchgani is a famous hill station and municipal council in Satara district in Maharashtra. It is renowned for the many premier residential educational institutions. This eternally beautiful hill station is perched at an altitude of 1334 meter. It derives its name from the five hills that surround it. Table Land, a flat mountain peak majestically overlooks the coastal plains. Panchgani has a pleasant, bracing climate throughout the year. It is famous weekend destination for the people of Mumbai & Pune.

2. Pelling (Sikkim) – Pelling is a town in the district of West Sikkim. Pelling is nestled at an altitude of 2,150 m. Places to visit in and around Pelling include the local monasteries namely Pemayangtse Monastery and Sangachoeling Monastery, the rock garden and waterfall at nearby Rimbi River, the imposing double-pronged Kanchenjungha Falls.

3. Khajjiar (Himachal Pradesh) - Khajjiar is a hill station in Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh. Khajjiar sits on a small plateau with a small stream-fed lake in the middle that has been covered over with weeds. The hill station is surrounded by meadows and forests. It is about 2,000 m above sea level in the foothills of the Dhauladhar ranges of the Western Himalayas and peaks can be seen in the distance. Khajjiar offers numerous trekking opportunities. The trek offers excellent views and a beautiful camping site.

4. Pachmarhi (Madhya Pradesh) – Pachmarhi is a hill station in Madhya Pradesh state. It is widely known as Satpura ki Rani, situated at a height of 1100 m in a valley of the Satpura Range in Hoshangabad district. Pachmarhi is a popular tourist retreat. Tourists visit Pachmarhi throughout the year. Pachmarhi also has a lot of cave paintings in the forests, some of which have been estimated to be as much as 10,000 years old. Pandava Caves are a big tourist attraction in Pachmarhi.

5. Matheran (Maharashtra) – Matheran is a hill station in the Raigad district in Maharashtra. It is the smallest hill station in India. It is located on the Western Ghats range at an elevation of around 800 m above sea level. It is Asia's only automobile-free hill station. There are altogether 28 points, 2 lakes, 2 parks, 4 major worship places and a racecourse to visit inside Matheran. It takes about 2–3 days on your feet for a complete adventure.

6. Pahalgam (Jammu & Kashmir) - Pahalgam is a popular tourist destination and hill station in Anantnag district of the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir. It is located on the banks of Lidder River at an altitude of 2,200 m. Pahalgam is the base for several treks in the region and for the annual pilgrimage to the cave-shrine of Amarnath. The surroundings are ideal and allow for relaxation and leisure in the true spirit of a traditional hill station holiday.

7. Bhandardara (Maharashtra) – Bhandardara is a holiday resort village on the western ghat of India. It is located in the Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra. Bhandardara is home to Mount Kalsubai, the highest peak (5,400 ft or 1,600 m) in Maharashtra. Other tourist attraction are the Wilson Dam on the Pravara River. The scenic Umbrella Falls also draw visitors, although it can be seen only during the monsoons between July and October. Bhandardara provides plenty of opportunity for small treks and hikes for adventure lovers. The most interesting and exciting trek is the small trek to Ratangad fort.

8. Patnitop (Jammu & Kashmir) – Patnitop is a hilltop tourist location in Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir state of India. Situated on a plateau in the Shiwalik belt of the Himalayas, Patnitop sits at an altitude of 2,024 m. The grassland is surrounded by dense woods and lush greenery of pines. Patnitop offers pretty picnic spots, tranquil walks and breathtaking views of the mountainscape of the Chenab river. In winter, the hill resort is generally covered with a thick mantle of snow, thus providing opportunities for various snow games including skiing.

9. Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh) - Dharamshala, one of the most exotic and beautiful hill resorts of India, is situated on the high slopes of the Kangra Valley against the picturesque backdrop of the amazing Dhauladhar mountain ranges in the lower Himalayas. The hill resort set in exotic surroundings of lush green forests comprising of beautiful pine trees and velvety tea gardens, is known for its exceptional natural beauty, calmness and serenity.

10. Shillong (Meghalaya) - Shillong is a beautiful hill station & the capital of Meghalaya located at the height of 1496 meters. It is also called 'Scotland of the East' due to its striking similarity with the Scottish highlands. Shillong has beautiful lakes and waterfalls and is placed among green mountains and pine forests. This hill station offers clean, serene, cool and pollution free environment to tourists.

11. Leh (Jammu & Kashmir) - Leh, the capital of Ladakh district, is a fascinating hill station. It is one of the favourite tourist destinations located in the northernmost parts of the country. Leh has been the centre of Tibetian-Buddhist culture since ages. Mountains dominate the landscape around the Leh as it is at an altitude of 3,500 m. Leh has a cold desert climate with long, harsh winters from October to early March, with minimum temperatures well below freezing for most of the winter.

12. Yelagiri (Tamil Nadu) – Yelagiri is a hill station in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu. Yelagiri Hill is at an 1410 meters altitude. Situated amidst four mountains well known for its salubrious climate prevailing throughout the year. The highest point in Yelgiri is the Swamimalai Hill, standing tall at 4,338 ft and a popular destination for trekkers. Yelagiri Hills into a tourist destination by promoting adventure sports such as paragliding and rock climbing.
