1. Lonavala - Lonavala is also known as the 'Jewel of the Sahyadri' is situated in the western part of Maharashtra. Lonavala is a town and a hill station in Pune district in Maharashtra, located at 622m above sea level. Lonavala is a picturesque spot surrounded by natural scenery. It has many forts, lakes & parks in nearby vicinity for the tourist to explore. It is also known for its production of the hard candy chikki.

2. Khandala – Khandala is a hill station in the Western Ghats in Maharashtra, about 3 km from Lonavala. Khandala is located at one end of the Bhor Ghat, a major ghat on the road link between the Deccan Plateau and the Konkan plain. Due to the ease of accessibility from nearby cities, Khandala is a common area for hiking. One destination is the nearby peak of Duke's Nose, which offers a panoramic view of Khandala and the Bhor Ghat.

3. Mahabaleshwar - Mahabaleshwar is a hill station located in the Western Ghats range, in the state of Maharashtra. Located at 1,372m above sea level, around Lake Veena, it is the highest hill station in the Western Ghats. It served as the summer capital of Bombay province during the British Raj. Mahabaleshwar is the source of the Krishna River that flows across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

4. Malshej Ghat - Malshej Ghat is a mountain pass in the Western Ghats range in the Pune district of Maharashtra. The site is nestled in the lofty rugged hills of the Western Ghats. The site is home to hundreds of different kinds of flora and fauna especially the avian population such as quails, rails, crakes, flamingos and cuckoos. For the outdoor enthusiast and the adventure seeker, there are trekking trails in the surrounding hills, for the nature lover there are gushing waterfalls and the verdant flora and fauna to be enjoyed and bird enthusiast will be thrilled at the sight of the pink flamingoes that swoop down here during July and September.

5. Bhandardara - Bhandardara is a holiday resort village on the western ghat of India. It is located in the Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra. Bhandardara is home to Mount Kalsubai, the highest peak (5,400 ft or 1,600 m) in Maharashtra. Other tourist attraction are the Wilson Dam on the Pravara River. The scenic Umbrella Falls also draw visitors, although it can be seen only during the monsoons between July and October. Bhandardara provides plenty of opportunity for small treks and hikes for adventure lovers. The most interesting and exciting trek is the small trek to Ratangad fort.

6. Matheran - Matheran is a hill station in the Raigad district in Maharashtra. It is the smallest hill station in India. It is located on the Western Ghats range at an elevation of around 800 m above sea level. It is Asia's only automobile-free hill station. There are altogether 28 points, 2 lakes, 2 parks, 4 major worship places and a racecourse to visit inside Matheran. It takes about 2–3 days on your feet for a complete adventure.

7. Amboli – Amboli is a hill station in south Maharashtra. At an altitude of 690 m it is the last hill station before the coastal highlands of Goa and a relatively unexplored one. Amboli lies in the Sahayadri Hills of Western India, one of the world's "Eco Hot-Spots" and it therefore abounds in a variety of fairly unusual flora and fauna. The main attraction for tourists is the incredibly high rainfall and the numerous waterfalls and mist during the monsoons.

8. Chikhaldara – Chikhaldara is a hill station in Amravati district in Maharashtra. It is the sole hill resort in the Vidarbha region situated at an altitude of 1118 m. Chikhaldara is full of deep valleys and these valleys are full of velvet mist and majestic trees. All this makes it a very popular summer retreat. With abundance of natural scenery, exciting wildlife, breathtaking waterfalls and a placid lake, the beauty of Chikhaldara is overwhelming.

9. Jawhar - Jawhar is a hill station located at an altitude of 518 m. Situated in newly formed Palghar district in Maharashtra. Jawhar is known for its picturesque setting and a vibrant cultural heritage. It is one of the very few tribal regions of Maharashtra and is famous for its vibrant Warli paintings that are a characteristic landmark of this place.

10. Panchgani - Panchgani is a famous hill station and municipal council in Satara district in Maharashtra. It is renowned for the many premier residential educational institutions. This eternally beautiful hill station is perched at an altitude of 1334 meter. It derives its name from the five hills that surround it. Table Land, a flat mountain peak majestically overlooks the coastal plains. Panchgani has a pleasant, bracing climate throughout the year. It is famous weekend destination for the people of Mumbai & Pune.

11. Toranmal - Toranmal is a hill station located in the Satpura Range in Nandurbar district in Maharashtra, located at the height of 1,150 m above mean sea level. Toranmal, has beautiful lakes and old temples. Yashvant Lake is visited my many every year. It is a natural lake and offers breathtaking views of the hills. The grand fair of Maha Shivratri takes place in front of Goraknath temple every year from March to April. This fair attracts hundreds of people every year.

12. Panhala – Panhala is a city and a Hill station 3177 ft above sea level, 18 km northwest of Kolhapur, in Kolhapur district in Maharashtra. City is pleasant almost throughout the year and the scenic view of the mountains make it a major tourist attraction. While the cool and pleasant climate of Panhala relieves you of your stress and the pollution-free atmosphere gives you a great escape from city life, it also offers a brilliant trekking trail from the base of the village to the fort.
