1. Narayana Murthy - Narayana Murthy is an
Indian IT industrialist and the co-founder of Infosys, a
multinational corporation providing business consulting, technology,
engineering and outsourcing services. He started Infosys in 1981 and
served as its CEO from 1981 to 2002 and as chairman from 2002 to
2011. He has been described as Father of Indian IT sector by Time
magazine due to his contribution to outsourcing in India. Murthy has
also been honoured with the Padma Vibhushan and Padma Shri awards.
2. Kumar Mangalam Birla - Kumar Mangalam
Birla is an Indian industrialist and the Chairman of the Aditya Birla
Group, one of the largest conglomerate corporations in India. The
group is India's third largest business group. Mr. Kumar Mangalam
Birla took over as Chairman of Aditya Birla Group in 1995. From a
turnover of US$3.33 Billion and operations in 8 countries in 1995,
today under his stewardship, the Group’s revenues are in excess of
US$41 billion with operations straddling 36 countries. He has made 36
acquisitions globally – the highest by an Indian multinational.
3. Kishore Biyani - Kishore Biyani is an
Indian businessman. He is the founder and chief executive officer
(CEO) of Future Group. Kishore Biyani has taken the retail industry
by a storm and now has zillions of successes listed under his name.
Today, the Future Group has more than 70 Million sqft of retail space
in 90 cities and 60 rural locations.
4. Ratan Tata - Ratan Tata is an Indian
businessman, investor, philanthropist and chairman emeritus of Tata
Sons. He was the chairman of Tata Group, a Mumbai-based global
business conglomerate from 1991 till 2012. Tata began his career in
the Tata group in 1961. In 1991, J. R. D. Tata stepped down as
chairman of Tata Sons, naming him his successor. During the 21 years
he led the Tata Group, revenues grew over 40 times and profit, over
50 times. He boldly got Tata Tea to acquire Tetley, Tata Motors to
acquire Jaguar Land Rover and Tata Steel to acquire Corus. All this
turned Tata from a largely India-centric group into a global
business, with over 65% revenues coming from operations and sales in
over 100 countries.
5. Savitri Jindal - Savitri Jindal is a
the Chairperson Emiretus, Jindal Steel & Power Limited. Savitri
Jindal is the richest woman in India, and the 16th richest Indian for
2016. The revenue of the company quadrupled after she took charge of
the company. Savitri Jindal was a Minister in Haryana Government and
member of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha (Legislative Assembly) from Hisar
constituency.
6. Anand Mahindra - Anand Mahindra is the
chairman and managing director of Mahindra Group. Under Anand
Mahindra's leadership, the Mahindra group has grown beyond making
steel and tractors. Today the group makes SUVs with exports to Latin
America, Africa, Europe and South East Asia. Mahindra Tractors is the
world's largest tractor company by volume. The group also makes
electric cars, motorcycles, scooters, trucks, yachts and aircraft.
Tech Mahindra is the fifth largest IT services and IT consulting
company in India. Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Limited
is the largest non-banking finance company in rural India. Anand has
also been noted by Forbes (India) as their 'Entrepreneur of the Year'
for 2013.
7. Azim Premji - Azim Premji is an Indian
business tycoon, investor and philanthropist, who is the chairman of
Wipro Limited, informally known as the Czar of the Indian IT
Industry. He was responsible for guiding Wipro through four decades
of diversification and growth to finally emerge as one of the global
leaders in the Software Industry. In 2013 he gave away 25 per cent of
his personal wealth to charity and has also pledged to give away the
rest of 25% in the next 5 years.
8. Adi Godrej - Adi Godrej is an Indian
industrialist and businessman, head of the Godrej family and chairman
of the Godrej Group. Under his stewardship, Godrej Consumer Products
has grown into a strong emerging market FMCG player building a
presence in 3 emerging markets of Asia, Africa & Latin America
across 3 categories home care, personal wash & hair care.
9. Gautam Adani - Gautam Adani is an
Indian business tycoon who is the chairman and founder of Adani
Group. He founded The Adani Group in 1988 and today it is a globally
integrated infrastructure player with businesses spanning coal
trading, coal mining oil & gas exploration, ports, multi-modal
logistics, power generation, agri infrastructure, edible oil &
transmission and gas distribution. He has also been recognized for
establishing the modern Mundra port which was selected as the best
port in 2006 by Lloyds. Mundra Port is now India's largest commercial
port to have achieved a new landmark of handling 100 million metric
tonnes in FY 13-14.
10. Lakshmi Mittal - Lakshmi Niwas Mittal
is an Indian steel magnate, based in theUnited Kingdom. He is the
chairman and CEO of ArcelorMittal, the world’s largest steelmaking
company. Mittal owns 38% of ArcelorMittal. Mittal has been a member
of the board of directors of Goldman Sachs since 2008 and is also
member of the board of directors of the Airbus Group. He was ranked
the sixth richest person in the world by Forbes in 2011.
11. Sunil Mittal - Sunil Bharti Mittal is
an Indian entrepreneur, philanthropist and the founder & chairman
of Bharti Enterprises, which has diversified interests in telecom,
insurance, real estate, hospitality, agri and food besides other
ventures. Bharti Airtel, the group's flagship company is the world's
third largest and India's largest telecom company with operations in
20 countries across Asia and Africa with a customer base of over 300
million.
12. Subrata Roy - Subrata Roy is an Indian
businessman. He is the founder and chairman of the Sahara India, an
Indian conglomerate with diversified businesses and ownership
interests that include London's Grosvenor House, New York's Plaza
Hotel, Aamby Valley City and Force India. Roy founded the company in
1978. The company now has interests in real estate, media,
entertainment, tourism, healthcare and hospitality.
13. Dr. Vijay Mallya - Vijay Mallya is an
Indian businessman and politician. He is the ex-chairman of United
Spirits Ltd, the largest spirits company in India and continues to
serve as Chairman of UB Group, an Indian conglomerate with interests
in beverage alcohol, aviation infrastructure, real estate and
fertiliser among others. Over the years, he has diversified and
acquired Berger Paints, Best and Crompton in 1988, Mangalore
Chemicals and Fertilisers in 1990, The Asian Age newspaper and the
publisher of film magazine and Cine Blitz, a Bollywood magazine in
2001.
14. Kushal Pal Singh - Kushal Pal Singh is
an Indian real estate developer and the chairman and CEO of real
estate developer DLF Limited. DLF has an estimated land bank of
10,255 acres, with about 3,000 acres being in Gurgaon, called DLF
City.
15. Mukesh Ambani - Mukesh Ambani is an
Indian business magnate who is the chairman, managing director and
largest shareholder of Reliance Industries Limited, a Fortune Global
500 company and India's second most valuable company by market value.
He holds a 44.7% stake in the company. RIL deals mainly in refining,
petrochemicals and in the oil and gas sectors. As of 2016, Mukesh
Ambani has consistently held the title of India's richest person on
the Forbes list for ten years.
16. Anil Ambani - Anil Ambani is an Indian
business magnate, and investor. He is the chairman of Reliance ADA
Group. He leads a large number of listed corporations including
Reliance Capital, Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance Power and
Reliance Communications. His major interests in entertainment include
44 FM radio stations, nationwide DTH business, animation studios and
several multiplex cinemas throughout India.
