Shelters
Summer - During the three
months from March to May it is summer in most parts of India. Summer
is the hottest of the four seasons. The normal temperature recorded
in this time in generally above 30°C. But at some places in the
plateau region the temperature rises upto 45°C.
Monsoon - The monsoon
season in India begins generally from the 2nd week of June and
continues up to the 2nd week of October. From the 2nd week of June
humid monsoon enters various parts of India in the south-west
direction from the Bay of Bengal and causes rainfall everywhere in
the state. The south-west monsoon causes heavy rainfall.
Autumn – October &
November months are regarded as autumn season. Once the monsoon
season gets over & before the winter. The weather in autumn gets
colder and more windy. In Autumn the hours of daylight and the hours
of night are the same. In autumn the weather changes all the time.
The weather turns cooler and often windy and rainy.
Winter - During the period
from December to February there is winter season in India. During
this time clouds and dry North-East Monsoon passes over different
regions of India and temperature is decreased considerably.
Bamboo Roof House –
Bamboo roof house is mainly seen in areas which experience hot
climate during the year. A bamboo roof house is an eco-friendly &
sustainable. It helps to keep closed dwelling cool during hot
weather.
Cement House – Cement
houses are the most common form of shelter in the urban areas. It is
a concrete house which can provide shelter from different climatic
conditions. Cement houses have a long durability too.
Tiled Roof House - Tiled
roof house are designed mainly to keep out rain. This types of house
are mainly found in the ares that experience heavy rainfall. Tiled
roof helps the rain water to flow out & does not let it
accumulate on the roof top.
House of Asbestos Sheets –
Asbestos sheets are used for roofing and flooring of the house. They
are used as they are fire resistant, the asbestos material doesn’t
burn. Asbestos mixed with cement ups the lifespan of the product &
it is also inexpensive. Thus in many rural areas houses are made
from asbestos.
