1. Chenab River Bridge, Jammu &
Kashmir - Chenab Bridge is a railway steel arch bridge under
construction between Bakkal and Kauri in the Reasi district of Jammu
and Kashmir in India. When finished, the bridge will span the Chenab
River at a height of 359 m above the river, making it the world's
highest rail bridge.
2. Nivedita Setu, Kolkata - Nivedita Setu
is a cable-stayed bridge over Hooghly River in Kolkata, West Bengal.
It runs parallel to and around 50 m downstream of the old Vivekananda
Setu. The bridge is named after Sister Nivedita, the social
worker-disciple of Swami Vivekananda. The bridge is designed to carry
48,000 vehicles per day.
3. Bandra Worli Sea Link, Mumbai -
Bandra–Worli Sea Link is a cable-stayed bridge with pre-stressed
concrete-steel viaducts on either side that links Bandra in the
Western Suburbs of Mumbai with Worli in South Mumbai. The sea-link
reduces travel time between Bandra and Worli during peak hours from
60–90 minutes to 20–30 minutes.
4. Paroshuramkund Bridge, Arunachal
Pradesh - Paroshuramkund bridge over Lohit River was opened during
2004, which helped communication to Tezu perennial.
5. Railroad Bridge, Rajahmundry - Railroad
Bridge in Rajahmundry is the longest of its kind in Asia and the
second longest in the world. Its total length is 4.732 km. Locally,
it is called Kovvur bridge by the people of Rajahmundry, as it
connects Rajahmundry city with Kovvur town. It is also important in
connecting the agriculturally rich East and West Godavari Districts
with each other.
6. Vidyasagar Setu, Kolkata - Vidyasagar
Setu also known as the Second Hooghly Bridge is a toll bridge over
the Hooghly River in West Bengal, linking the cities of Kolkata and
Howrah. Vidyasagar Setu is a cable-stayed bridge, with 121 cables in
a fan arrangement, built using steel pylons 127.62 metres high. It
has a total length of 823 metres.
7. Prakasam Bridge, Vijayawada - The
structure of the Prakasam Barrage stretches 1223.5 m across the
Krishna River connecting Krishna and Guntur districts. The barrage
serves also as a road bridge and spans over a lake. The three canals
associated with the barrage run through the city of Vijayawada
crossing it and giving it a Venetian appearance. Barrage has total 76
pillars in total, 70 pillars belongs to Guntur district and 6 pillars
belongs to Krishna district.
8. Lakshman Jhula, Rishikesh - Lakshman
Jhula is an iron suspension bridge situated in Muni Ki Reti in Tehri
Garhwal district of the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It was erected
over the Ganges river and is a landmark of Rishikesh. It is said that
Lakshmana crossed Ganges on jute ropes between the place where this
bridge is built. Lakshman Jhula was completed in 1929.
9. Saraighat Bridge, Guwahati - Saraighat
Bridge is the first rail-cum-road bridge constructed over the
Brahmaputra River in Guwahati. It was opened to traffic in April
1962. The bridge was built for the North Frontier Railway. Saraighat
Bridge over the river Brahmaputra is the vital link between North
East region and the rest of the country.
10. Coronation Brige, Siliguri - Coronation
Bridge also known as the Sevoke Bridge, in Darjeeling district of
West Bengal spans across the Teesta River, connecting the districts
of Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri. National Highway 31 runs across it.
11. Golden Bridge, Bharuch - Golden Bridge
connects Ankleshwar to Bharuch in the Gujarat state of western India.
It was built in 1881. The Bridge is also called Narmada Bridge. The
Golden Bridge has seen many floods and natural disasters like
earthquakes, but it has stood for more than 130 years, providing
daily transportation to the people of Ankleshwar and Bharuch. Length
of golden bridge 1412 m.
12. Zuari River Bridge, Goa - Zuari Bridge
is a railway bridge between North Goa and South Goa, India. It
carries the Konkan Railway over the tidal part of the Zuari River,
south of Carambolim. The bridge was completed in three years. It is a
few metres upstream of a road bridge of the same name.
