then rotated very quickly to make the water remove dirt from the
clothes. Most washing machines are made so that detergent (liquids or
powders) can be put into the machine. These can help make the clothes
cleaner.
2. Cooking Range – Cooking range is a
kitchen appliance designed for cooking food. Kitchen stoves rely on
the application of direct heat for the cooking process and may also
contain an oven, used for baking. Modern kitchen stoves may use
alternative methods for heating food. Today's major brands offer both
gas and electric stoves and many also offer dual-fuel stoves
combining gas and electric cooktops.
3. Table Fan - Table fans rest on a table,
desk, shelf or other flat surface and have the advantage of being
extremely mobile and convenient. They can provide a lot of power in a
small area and are much handier than pedestal fans. Table fans come
in all sorts of sizes, too, even in designs that are just several
inches tall and can keep you cool at your desk all day.
4. Television – Television or TV is a
telecommunication medium used for transmitting sound with moving
images in monochrome black-and-white or in colour and in two or three
dimensions. It can refer to a television set, a television program or
the medium of television transmission. Television is a mass medium,
for entertainment, education, news and advertising. 79% of the
world's households owned a television set.
5. Microwave Oven – A microwave oven is
a kitchen appliance that heats and cooks food by exposing it to
microwave radiation in the electromagnetic spectrum. Microwave ovens
are popular for reheating previously cooked foods and cooking a
variety of foods. They are also useful for rapid heating of otherwise
slowly prepared cooking items, such as hot butter, fats and
chocolate. A microwave oven is one of the fastest ways of cooking.
6. Air Conditioner – An air conditioner
is a device that removes heat from the air inside a building or
vehicle, thus lowering the air temperature. Air conditioning is the
process of altering the condition of air by removing heat and
humidity to achieve a more comfortable interior environments,
typically with the aim of distributing the conditioned air to an
occupied space such as a building or a vehicle to improve thermal
comfort and indoor air quality.
7. Home Theatre System - Home theatre
system refers to home entertainment systems that seek to reproduce a
movie theatre like experience and mood using video and audio
equipment in or outside a private home. Home theatre system can
either be set up by purchasing individual components or a HTIB (Home
Theatre in a Box) which includes all of the pieces from a single
manufacturer. The benefit of component purchasing is that one can
attain improved quality in video or audio with proper knowledge and
research.
8. Bread Toaster – A bread toaster or a
toast maker, is a small electric appliance designed to brown or singe
sliced bread by exposing it to radiant heat, thus converting it into
toast. Bread slices are inserted into slots in the top of a pop-up
toaster, which make toast from bread in one to three minutes by using
electric heating elements. Toasters have a control to adjust how much
the appliance toasts the bread.
9. Sandwich Toaster – A sandwich toaster
is a cooking appliance that consists of two hinged concave, round or
square, metal plates on long handles. The appliance is used to heat,
toast and seal a sandwich of two slices of bread and a filling.
10. Electric Iron – An electric iron is a
small hand-held appliance with a handle holding a flat, roughly
triangular surface that, when heated, is used to press clothes to
remove creases. It is named for the metal of which the device is
commonly made and the use of it is generally called ironing. With the
heat and the weight of the ironing plate, the fibres are stretched
and the fabric maintains its new shape when cool.
11. Grinder – A grinder is a kitchen
utensil which uses a gear-driven mechanism to rotate a set of beaters
in a bowl containing the food to be prepared. It automates the
repetitive tasks of stirring, whisking or beating. When the beaters
are replaced by a dough hook, a mixer may also be used to knead. A
typical home grinder will include a wire whisk for whipping creams
and egg whites, a flat beater for mixing batters and a dough hook for
kneading.
12. Hand Blender - The hand blender or
stick blender has no container of its own, but instead has a mixing
head with rotating blades that can be immersed in a container.
Handheld blenders are ideal for small and specific tasks. Hand
blenders are convenient for homogenizing volumes that are too large
to fit in the bowl of a stationary blender or as in the case of
soups.
13. Mixer Grinder – A mixer grinder is a
kitchen appliance used to mix, puree or emulsify food and other
substances. A stationary blender consists of a blender jar with a
rotating metal blade at the bottom, powered by an electric motor in
the base. Some powerful models can also crush ice. The newer
immersion blender configuration has a motor on top connected by a
shaft to a rotating blade at the bottom, which can be used with any
container.
14. Computer - A computer is a general
purpose device that can be programmed to carry out a set of
arithmetic or logical operations automatically. There are four main
processing steps in a computer and they are: inputting, outputting,
storage and processing. These four steps help the computer to work.
15. Vacuum Cleaner – A vacuum cleaner is
a device that uses an air pump to create a partial vacuum to suck up
dust and dirt, usually from floors and from other surfaces such as
upholstery and draperies. The dirt is collected by either a dust bag
or a cyclone for later disposal. Vacuum cleaners, which are used in
homes as well as in industry, exist in a variety of sizes and models.
16. Electric Shaver - Electric shaver has a
rotating or oscillating blade. The electric razor usually does not
require the use of shaving cream, soap or water. The razor may be
powered by a small DC motor, which is either powered by batteries or
mains electricity. Many modern ones are powered using rechargeable
batteries.
17. Hair Dryer – A hair dryer is an
electromechanical device designed to blow normal or hot air over damp
hair, in order to accelerate the evaporation of water particles and
dry the hair. Blow dryers allow better control over the shape and
style of hair, by accelerating and controlling the formation of
temporary hydrogen bonds inside each strand.
18. Electric Bulb – An electric bulb is a
device that produces light from electricity. In addition to lighting
a dark space, they can be used to show an electronic device is on, to
direct traffic, for heat, and many other purposes. Electric bulbs are
manufactured in a wide range of sizes, light output and voltage
ratings, from 1.5 volts to about 300 volts. They require no external
regulating equipment, have low manufacturing costs and work equally
well on either alternating current or direct current. Electric bulb are widely used in household and commercial lighting.
19. CFL Bulb – A compact fluorescent lamp
(CFL) is a fluorescent lamp designed to replace an incandescent lamp.
Compared to general-service incandescent lamps giving the same amount
of visible light, CFLs use one-fifth to one-third the electric power
and last eight to fifteen times longer. A CFL has a higher purchase
price than an incandescent lamp, but can save over five times its
purchase price in electricity costs over the lamp's lifetime.
20. Tube Light – Tube light is a glass
tube, whose inner surface has a powdered, phosphor coating. The tube
is filled with argon gas and a small amount of mercury vapor. At the
ends of the tubes are electrodes that emit electrons when heated by
an electric current. It is the most common form for lighting used in
India at home, schools, offices etc.
21. LED Lamps - LED lamp is a
light-emitting diode (LED) product which is assembled into a lamp for
use in lighting fixtures. LED lamps have a lifespan and electrical
efficiency which are several times longer than incandescent lamps and
significantly more efficient than most fluorescent lamps, with some
chips able to emit more than 300 lumens per watt.
22. Air Purifier – An air purifier is a
device which removes contaminants from the air in a room. These
devices are commonly marketed as being beneficial to allergy
sufferers and asthmatics and at reducing or eliminating second-hand
tobacco smoke. Air purifiers are becoming increasingly capable of
capturing a greater number of bacterial, virus and DNA damaging
particulates.
23. Water Purifier – A water purifier
removes impurities from water by means of a fine physical barrier, a
chemical process or a biological process. Filters cleanse water to
different extents for different purposes. Water purifier for home use
include granular-activated carbon filters (GAC) used for carbon
filtering, depth filter, metallic alloy filters, microporous ceramic
filters, carbon block resin (CBR), microfiltration and
ultrafiltration membranes. Some filters use more than one filtration
method. An example of this is a multi-barrier system. Jug filters can
be used for small quantities of drinking water.
24. Refrigerator – A refrigerator is a
machine for keeping things cold. It is sometimes called a fridge or
an icebox. People put food and drinks in it, to keep those items cold
or good (unspoiled) for a longer time. Refrigeration is an essential
food storage technique in developed countries. The lower temperature
lowers the reproduction rate of bacteria, so the refrigerator reduces
the rate of spoilage. The refrigerator allows to keep food fresh for
longer than before.
25. Dish Washer – A dishwasher is a
mechanical device for cleaning dishes and eating-utensils.
Dishwashers can be found in restaurants and private homes. A mix of
water and detergent is circulated by a pump. Water is pumped to one
or more rotating spray arms, which blast the dishes with the cleaning
mixture.
